Meridian Psychotherapy combines "talking skills" with the energy techniques,
Thought Field Therapy (TFT), and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). A good description of both TFT and EFT is acupuncture
without a needle. Instead of using needles, certain points of the meridians are gently tapped, unblocking them and allowing
a normal flow of energy to return.
When using these techniques, it is important to be able to identify the
emotion underlying the problem. Using psychotherapy skills allows the discovery of mental or emotional beliefs, fears or patterns
behind the problem.
The principles of these techniques were discovered by Dr. Roger Callahan,
a clinical psycologist of more than 40 years' experience. Through extensive research, he discovered TFT, tapping on Meridian
points in certain sequences.
Gary Craig, who studied with Dr Callahan, devised the technique of EFT,
in which all the meridian points are tapped in sequence, assuring that the correct meridian point would always be covered.
These therapies rest on what Gary Craig calls the discovery statement,
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system." Whenever TFT or EFT are applied,
the disruption is relieved, eliminating the clients problem.
EFT is easily taught to clients who can then continue to use the technique
on themselves. This allows the client to become pro-active in the healing process.
EFT can be used to treat any of the following; fears and phobias, anxiety,
panic attacks, emotional issues, post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSS), fear of public speaking, pain management, habits and
addictions, exam nerves, and others. It is also quite useful for enhancing sporting ability.
Testimonial
After years of being terrified of water and anything associated with
it - for example, boats - I went to Susan for help. After 2 sessions of EFT I went in to the sea for the first time
in my life and am now swimming regularly to make up for lost time. Thank you so much Susan. -Jenny, Abu Dhabi
